World Vision USA’s Post

The 24th #GlobalChildNutritionForum (GCNF) kicked off today in Osaka, Japan with over 400 participants from 84 countries—and World Vision is proud to be a partner in this global movement! Arlene Mitchell, Executive Director of GCNF, celebrated Japan’s leadership and choice of this year’s venue “because of the amazing and wonderful example they provide for the rest of the world.” Japan’s school nutrition system is a model for sustainable and holistic approaches to child nutrition: 🔶 A “School Meal Law” ensuring daily meals that nourish body and mind. 🔶 Over 40 years of teaching food culture, hygiene, and gratitude. 🔶 Integration of climate resilience and sustainability into school meal programs. We are proud to contribute to this vital conversation at GCNF by: 🔶 Sharing innovative, locally-led solutions for sustainable school meals. 🔶 Strengthening global partnerships to amplify impact on child nutrition. 🔶 Promoting approaches that empower communities and nourish futures. As Betty Kibaara, Director, Food Initiative of The Rockefeller Foundation, noted, school meals are transformative: 🔶 $1 invested = $9 return. 🔶 Climate-resilient agriculture can boost productivity by 50%. This forum is an incredible opportunity to reimagine school meals and ensure the next generation grows up healthy and empowered. Stop by our booth to learn about how our programs, like the PARES initiative in Mozambique, integrate local farmers into school feeding programs. And don’t miss our December 11 workshop we’re co-hosting with Catholic Relief Services. During “Local Ingredients, Global Impact,” we’ll dive deeper into how sustainable solutions can transform school meal programs. If you can’t attend, learn more about how we integrate local and regional procurement into school meal programs and more resources at https://lnkd.in/eacmtewD. This emphasis on local and sustainable solutions is vitally important for school meals programs around the world. While we remain a key partner with the US Government for our programming, we also see rising insecurity across the world which makes it more challenging to ship food across the high seas. We are immensely thankful and grateful for those commodities and at the same time we will continue investing where possible in supporting communities to identify long-term, local solutions for feeding their children.

So exciting! so proud of our #Foodsecurityandlivelihoods team! well done to Global Child Nutrition Foundation for this amazing event as well!
