Can #psychedelics unlock an “#InnerHealing” intelligence in patients? Glad to have this piece of work out, suggesting that inner healing mechanisms can have a role in psilocybin for depression. 🍄 What is it? The 'inner healer' is thought to represent the mind's ability to access and mobilize psychological resources that promote healing, often lying dormant under normal circumstances. We found that higher ratings in “inner healing” intelligence scores were related to reduced severity of depressive symptoms after 2 weeks. 🍄 This effect was distinct from the generic intensity of the drug's effects. Statistical controls for general drug effects showed that the 'inner healer' relationship with depression change might be unique. 🍄 On a brain level, this effect may be linked to an increase in entropy, essentially making the brain's activity more chaotic and less predictable. This entropy may help disrupt rigid, harmful patterns of thought and behavior associated with depression. 🍄More psychologically, psilocybin might initiate a psychological process akin to the 'hero's journey’, starting with confronting deep fears and moving through trials of insight and emotional breakthrough. This process often ends in a psychological rebirth, offering a renewed perspective on one’s life. These results are very preliminary, and it’s probably the first temptative to bring this construct into modern psychedelic science, however it warrants further study. Great piece of work led by the amazing Joseph Peill and big ups to all the others involved!! https://lnkd.in/dZMuD4ag
Interesting insights!! Thanks for sharing
Great graphic :)
So well written and explained! Thank you for this 🙏🏼
Bravisimo!! One of the most important question science has asked about psychedelics so far. Chapeaux to the Imerial team, always leading the way <3
