If you're looking for a mousey order-taker with no personality, intelligence, or charisma, you definitely shouldn't consider my ex-colleague-but-still-close-friend-and-conspirator Alisha Wheatley. She doesn’t like to be pigeon-holed because her abilities are as broad as they are deep, but she can think, write, design, and strategise and execute most-things-digital in a media / marketing context.

Taking a break from a job search can be a much-needed way to reflect and refocus. It's easy to get caught up in the grind of applying, connecting, and reaching out to potential employers. In my case, there has been little reward. As an experienced educator and administrator, I transitioned to a curriculum company last year. Due to layoffs, I'm now looking for my next opportunity. I'm curious if anyone has had a great experience working with a recruiter, specifically one that helps transitioning teachers. I'm not looking for specific reviews on people or companies. I'm more curious about the services provided, did it result in more interviews or job offers, and if it was worth the cost, etc. I'm not looking to tear anyone down or this post to become an advertisement. I'm just genuinely curious.

To my Professional network, SPE network and LinkedIn network…I don’t typically repost others’ job search posts, but I know the job seekers and need your help on this one. I’ve known Ashley and Michael Fields since college. They were my classmates, fellow SPE members and my work colleagues. You should also know that they were top of our class and extremely smart and hardworking. I’m surprised it is taking this long to land new roles. If you have any job openings (or know anyone who does), and you are looking for the best petroleum engineers out there, you should reach out to both of them or send me a message, and I will share their impressive resumes and my recommendation. It’s hard to find great employees in general and it’s even harder to find great highly trained Petroleum Engineers (there are not that many PEs in the industry, period) with significant work experience from a major integrated energy company, so please don’t pass on them. A couple of additional comments: 1) The skills and experience you gain from working as a Petroleum engineer in the industry for many years do not suddenly disappear because you’ve been out of the workforce for a few years. Once a problem solver, always a problem solver. 2) Technology may change rapidly in the tech world but the engineering fundamentals of the oil and gas industry do not change so quickly where someone out of the workforce for a few years could not easily catch up. The underlying physics don’t change, the math doesn’t change, the project management skills, soft skills and project execution skills required do not change significantly, etc and Microsoft Excel is still highly used by engineers to solve problems. I’m sure there’s someone out there in need for reliable and dependable petroleum engineers, and I know you will be very happy that you gave Ashley and Michael a chance.
