📢 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝 𝐆𝐀! 🎉 For me this is one of the biggest news out of this #KubeCon. Now all the "three pillars of observability" - traces, metrics and logs - are generally available, stable, and are ready for use in production, with all the necessary guarantees, such as long-term support, backward compatibility and dependency isolation. And you've got stable client libraries for Java, .Net, C++, PHP (and more in the works). Check out the official #OpenTelemetry announcement on the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) blog: https://lnkd.in/dR2fKK4B You'll find other updates including: - OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP) Reaches 1.0 - Collaboration with Elastic - Roadmap and community updates For more details on the OTLP 1.0 and Elastic ECS, check out my post: https://lnkd.in/eiWR_574 Great work to all the OpenTelemetry maintainers and contributors who've made this happen 👏

People ask me why I've advocated for OpenSearch Project joining an open source foundation. One of the significant advantages is adopting 𝙤𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚. While some steps have been taken before, like establishing a leadership committee with non-Amazonians, now the project will benefit from a full open governance model, with the oversight of The Linux Foundation. Check out this blog post by Amazon Web Services (AWS) leaders Anandhi Carl Daniel Eli and Mukul sharing about this new path: https://lnkd.in/d6P-Xwfe #OpenSearchCon #OpenSearchConNA AWS Open Source

DevTalksRomania last week was fun! I got to visit a new place, and meet many new people, as well as old friends (sorry if I missed a selfie). I discussed Platform Engineering guidelines (as you might have guessed from my 👕), and presented the Backstage open source developer platform and the research conducted by the Platforms working group, both under the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). Thanks Catalyst Solutions for inviting me and for the hospitality. https://lnkd.in/dkVUpkrg #PlatformEngineering #DevTalks #DevOps

Why is #Prometheus project so popular? A main reason is the ease of instrumentation with a vast ecosystem. This is also the strength of the #opensource community, contributing and maintaining thousands of such exporters, which no single vendor could ever maintain on its own. Check out my latest episode of 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 🎙 with Prometheus creator Julius Volz, where we discussed this and the Prometheus 3.0 major release hot off this month's #PromCon 🔥 https://lnkd.in/dPmmDzRB Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) PromLabs

Unique opportunity! Looking for a Secretary-General of Hezbollah role. This is an executive leadership position with high influence. Our organization is undergoing destructuring and you will get to lead it and shape the future of the organization, for its remaining weeks. Prerequisites: experience in international terrorism, proven fundamentalist and antisemitic ideology, and extensive professional network in the Muslim Brotherhood sector globally. You will enjoy a comprehensive compensation package from the patron in Iran and luxury housing in a bunker. It is likely to be a brief term, but it'll be a blast 💥

"OTel Fatalist" - I love it 😀 #opentelemetry
Term of the week: OTel Fatalist An OTel Fatalist is someone quick to label OpenTelemetry as "bloated," "inefficient," or "overly complicated"—without offering meaningful context or specific examples. Often, you'll find they work at companies selling proprietary observability solutions. Now, don't confuse them with the OTel Critic. OTel Critics are invaluable to the ecosystem, providing thoughtful feedback and real-world data to highlight areas that need improvement. Their insights often lead to tangible enhancements that strengthen OpenTelemetry. Constructive criticism builds a better future for OTel, while fatalism... just makes noise. Thanks for the term, Cedric Ziel !
