Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (DVNE)’s Post

🇩🇪🎊Europe has its first national carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) association: the Deutscher Verband für negative Emissionen e.V. (#DVNE)🎊🇩🇪 Germany is the largest economy in Europe and the 4th largest in the world. It is a hub of scientific and industrial excellence. Germany also has a history of leadership on environmental policy. As such, Germany can and will play a central role in fighting climate change. The DVNE strives to inform the public about negative emissions / carbon dioxide removal (#CDR) and will provide the flourishing CDR ecosystem in Germany with a coordinated and powerful voice. It is a multi-stakeholder platform to facilitate collaboration and the development of policies in Germany to realise net-zero by 2045 and net-negative thereafter. Yesterday, the DVNE´s 31 founding members gathered for its inaugural general assembly, passed its statutes, and elected its first board of directors:  Sebastian Manhart, Carbonfuture (Chair) Lisa Mangertseder, Carbon Removal Partners (Vice-Chair) Stephanie Bischof, Airfix Carolin Güthenke, Fachverband Pflanzenkohle e.V. Alexander Zeihe, Ecosystem Value Association e.V. Magnus Drewelies, CEEZER Christoph Beuttler, Climeworks Now it´s time to get to work: several key policy packages are being drafted by the German government as we speak. Here is what the DVNE has lined up until the end of the year: - Officially register the association in Berlin - Launch our website - Start outreach to all stakeholders including the public, scientific institutions, and policy makers  - Hire and onboard a team (executive director, policy manager, comms manager) - Apply for and obtain charitable status - Host our official launch event in Berlin - Continue recruiting members and funders Want to get involved and support the DVNE? Here is what you can do: - Follow us here on LinkedIn - Sign up to our mailing list here: https://lnkd.in/eksqy6VW - Become a member - Support us financially - Refer potential staff, particularly for the executive director, who should ideally be based in Berlin Finally, a big shout out to the Carbon Removal Partners, remove, and the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt, as well as a number of philanthropists including Dirk Paessler for their trust and support. 📢 Our objective is clear: turn Germany into the global leader for CDR and achieve net-zero in Germany by 2045 (if not sooner). If this resonates, join us and help us get there!

Wonderful, this is the way to go! Happy to see a tech agnostic German home-base for all CDR pathways, including durable CDR like biochar carbon removal #BCR, #BECCS, #DACS, Enhanced Rock Weathering. I assume also managed carbon reservoirs like soil carbon and forestry are in scope?

Very excited for the road ahead, driving the acceleration of carbon removal in Germany! Let's aim to lead by example and inspire others to do the same 💚 Carbonfuture is looking forward to working together with the other founding partners in making trustworthy CDR a reality.
