Last week was a whirlwind of ideas and inspiration. I learned a lot from our customers, as well as the Amazonians giving talks and running workshops. With another re:Invent in the books, I’m looking forward to reading, recharging, and most importantly, learning something new. In tech, continuous education is a requirement — and it’s in these quiet moments that I find my sanctuary for deep dives and reflection. The real power of AI in software development is limiting the amount of undifferentiated heavy lifting that developers need to do — which means we can spend more time on the creative work we all love. With tools like PartyRock, building proof of concept apps using generative AI is dead simple. So much so, that since launch tens of thousands of apps have been created and shared. At re:Invent in 2019, we launched the Builders' Library. The goal was to share the non-obvious lessons we learned when building distributed systems at Amazon scale. As we prepare for another great week in Las Vegas, I wanted to share one of my favorite articles from that collection by Colm MacCárthaigh called "Reliability, constant work, and a good cup of coffee".
