I am an alumni and I need to share the real story of Prehired - a boot camp which sells aspiring SDRs the dream of a career in tech sales, but often leaves them in debt, jobless and unable to break a $30,000 debt contract. PreHired founder Joshua Jordan ✓ is actively suing 290 graduates, many without jobs or making a fraction of what was promised, because of their inability or unwillingness to forfeit 12.5% of their wages for a prerecorded video series and predatory “mentorship” from people with little to no sales background. The worst part is they calculate your debt based on OTE, not base. Imagine being a brand new SDR on your first day of sales at a startup, making a $35,000 base salary and immediately having to pay off debt based on $70,000. This is more than false advertising. It’s systematic abuse of new SDRs and doesn't represent the values of the tech community. The bigger story here is how many reputable SaaS companies partner with PreHired. I don’t blame these companies for hiring great people. They give a bad name to alternate education as a whole and do not represent the community helping aspiring SDRs break into SaaS. I believe the program started with good intentions but has since been completely consumed by greed. There is no longer a path to succeed at PreHired, only a path to succeed in spite of it, and it’s time to stand up. The LinkedIn SaaS community has always rushed to the defense of SDRs being abused, mistreated and manipulated. PreHired is an example of this on an institutional level. I’m going to share more about my personal experience in the comments: the gaslighting, the false advertising and the ethical issues I witnessed, but more importantly, I want to use this post as a platform for YOU to share your unfiltered experience with PreHired. Please comment below. I know I am far from alone and it’s time to come together and speak up.

Last year, I told a fellow sales leader that my goal for 2022 was to move into a director role in order to make an even greater impact on the people I work alongside. The response was, “No one would give someone at your age that role.” I’m here to tell everyone that he was absolutely correct. Beginning next Monday, I will be starting as the Head of Sales at The Outbound Sales Guy. I’m bringing Ryan Zadrazil along with me for this ride into a whole new territory with Martin MacArthur and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m looking forward to rocketing the growth The OSG has and continuing to build our awesome team. Your age doesn’t matter, the work you put in does. Special thanks to all the people who've helped me get here so fast: Ryan Zadrazil and Jordan Apodaca for being the greatest motivators and friends behind my fast growth. Isaac Roachford-Gould for being the rock I've needed for the past almost decade of knowing each other. The team over at SellX for believing in me for over a year and allowing me to grow with you. 💥Francisco Oller Garcia, MBA ⚡️ for the constant inspiration from someone else like me in SaaS. The team at Elevate for allowing me to mentor the next awesome generation of rockstar SDRs. There are so many more people and teams who have inspired, pushed, and helped me along the way so just know that if you weren't tagged I didn't forget you.

Being a sales leader means a whole lot more than managing a team of people. It means enabling those around you to be the most successful they can be...and then some. Motivating and showing people they can accomplish more than they ever thought possible. Being a disabled sales leader means even more than that. It often times has felt like I have the weight of my community on my shoulders to prove myself as a physically disabled person, but that's not how it truly is. The support of our community is what I truly have...people like Ryan Zadrazil, 👨🏻🦽Francisco Oller Garcia, MBA ⚡️, and Martin MacArthur. Whenever one of us succeeds, we all do. And that's how any org should function. We're not just a team from bottom and up, but a community of individuals here to support one another.

I'm in the process of hiring quite a few SDRs right now, so I thought I'd give some tips on how to be successful during my interview process: 1. Do research: One of the best ways to do this is to reach out to one of the amazing SDRs on my team such as George J. Ruhlman IV, Lindsay Caplan, or Faith Hunter. 2. If you're brand new to the SDR and SaaS world, watch some YouTube videos on what it takes to become a top SDR or reach out to top SDRs. There are plenty of incredible mentors in this community like Ryan Zadrazil who knows what it takes to get a role. 3. I LOVE VIDEOS AND COLD CALLS!!! If you pitch yourself to me through video or cold call me (look at my contact info), I WILL interview you even if it's just to give feedback and help you. If you call and I don't answer, leave a voicemail and I'll call back ASAP. This is how you get a job on my team....and likely many others!

I'm not really supposed to be here today...the odds were stacked against me at birth. Yet, here I am not just surviving but thriving. As a disabled person in a world not built for me, in an industry that could generally care less about my people and what we've been through. But, more and more companies and their leaders are starting to realize that their profit comes from HUMANS. Humans like me and humans like you. No matter the color of our skin, the way we talk, how old we are, or the way we look. Smart companies and leaders are focusing their attention on the people who CAN make a difference. I grew up believing that I'd never make a difference, that I'd be seen as just another cog in the machine of 9-5. A dysfunctional cog at that. Then, I found my voice through cold calling. I quickly adapted to this new environment in the political world. I felt in my place learning about people's lives and sharing my own stories and beliefs. And just over a year ago, I took a scary jump into the SaaS world...that has changed my life forever. I love working alongside smart people, many of whom are smarter than me. Learning from so many great leaders and sales mentors out there and being able to put our conversations into real practice. I will never regret that jump one year ago. If you've read through this entire post, this is YOUR sign to make that change in your life you've always been scared to. Also, thanks for reading this entire thing!
