“ESG and climate-related reporting for accountants” was developed in cooperation with ICAEW to:
- Raise awareness of broad sustainability/ESG issues beyond climate, and how these are likely to become increasingly relevant for accountants in the future.
- Identify evolving disclosure requirements, especially around climate-related financial disclosure, that will require the attention of accountants and utilise their professional skills and competencies.
- Apply the principals and processes for preparing financial statements to the disclosure of climate-related financial disclosure.

This paper aims to help companies quickly move beyond commitments to comprehensive reporting on their action plans and progress towards net zero. Businesses can do so via the following routes: getting to grips with the science behind net zero, and guidance on how net zero can be integrated and form part of the comprehensive net zero reporting in the mainstream financial report, including insights on how to connect with TCFD principles of transition plans, scenario analysis and financial reporting.

On 31st January 2022, CDSB is officially closing its doors, and our team is stepping seamlessly over to join the IFRS Foundation to support the newly established International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) on 1st February, bringing with them all of the energy, expertise, and ambition that CDSB has deployed since 2007.
On the 27th of January, we will be hosting our final live webinar to reflect on some of the changes we have seen in sustainability reporting in that time, as well as CDSB’s own contribution to the global and ongoing shift in perspective and approach. We will also take a look at the work that still needs to be done in the coming years, and what the ISSB is looking to achieve.
We will hear from some of CDSB’s founding members, including CDSB Chair Richard Samans, CDP CEO Paul Simpson, CDSB Managing Director Mardi McBrien, CDSB Founding Director Lois Guthrie, as well as from some of our board members, allies, and key contributors over the years, such as New Zealand Minister for Climate Change, James Shaw, Mary Schapiro Gordon Wilson Rodney Irwin
The event will also see the launch of CDSB’s last publication on reporting social information in mainstream annual reports.
We are also delighted to be joined by the newly announced Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Emmanuel Faber, who will provide some insight into the ambitions of our future work at the ISSB.

15 years later… CDSB is on the doorstep of achieving its mission: providing decision-useful environmental information to markets via the corporate report.
As soon as next month, CDSB will begin setting-up shop at the IFRS Foundation’s newly formed standard-setting body: the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) – where the organisation will develop meet the growing and urgent demand for global streamlining of corporate sustainability disclosure standards.
