Yesterday I booked my first PAID advisory meeting. 🎉 I'm scheduling private video calls where we can dive deep into questions around my expertise. Folks can click a link on my website, pay, and schedule the call without any back and forth. This is perfect for folks who are stuck and need a quick solution or are exploring different options and want to compare the pros + cons with an expert. I'm excited to see if this becomes a meaningful revenue stream. It's the first time I've "billed hourly" in a long time - I almost always do project- or value-based pricing. A huge shoutout to Matt Donovan today. ❤️ This cold Twitter DM from 2016 kick started my career. 6 years ago Matt asked if I could help with their iOS app. Little did I know that this was the first step towards becoming the expert in a very small niche. This was my first opportunity to bring in some money outside of my 9-5. And we worked together for almost 4 years! We built a ton of exciting features and added just enough infrastructure to keep the iOS app running without manual intervention. To this day they only need to open Xcode when a new version of iOS is released. Everything else is on autopilot, powered by their Ruby on Rails app. Since going solo I’ve helped dozens of companies launch their iOS apps in the App Store with Turbo Native. It’s become the driving factor in practically everything I write about, including my newsletter. It took me a few years but I proudly stand by my claim: I’m the Turbo Native guy. 2022 was my most profitable year since going freelance. But too many days ended with me feeling like “I didn’t get anything done.” I had huge accomplishments in 2022! So why would I ever get up from my computer and think “I could have done more today”? I think a big reason was that my year didn’t have much focus. I’m hoping to change that in 2023 by being more intentional with everything I do. 1. I will add structure to what I work on, and when. 2. I will be accountable to my own time. 3.
