At #SCEWC19 we visited Urbaser's booth and learned about their latest innovation projects. Urbaser's urban services specialize in street cleansing, waste removal and transporting, urban waste treatment and recycling, water cycle management, street, and beach cleaning, as well as urban landscape and gardening. We got really excited when we heard about their contributions to making possible the transition to a circular economy within cites. The future of waste depends on getting minds unstuck around what waste really is. Waste is an untapped resource. One innovation is in #biogas technology, transforming waste from landfills into energy. With their proprietary system, after processing urban waste methane a gas is captured, that otherwise would contribute to global warming, with a GHE power 28 times greater than that of CO2 The system transforms the gas into electricity or into bio-methane, returning resources to the loop, for its use by industry, households, and vehicles. We also learned that they are the urban waste management service providers for Stockholm.
