At #SCEWC19 we had a chance of learning about the European Space Agency - ESA Europe’s gateway to space. Its mission is to shape the development of Europe’s space capability and ensure that investment in space continues to deliver benefits to the citizens of Europe and the world. Today it develops and launches satellites for Earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, and astronomy, sending probes to the far reaches of the Solar System, cooperating in the human exploration of space. ESA also has a strong application program, developing services in Earth observation, navigation, and telecommunications. Galileo and EGNOS are the projects most closely related to smart cities. The Galileo navigational signal is accessible to the general public free of charge, providing improved global positioning which is very useful for Smart City and Smart Mobility solutions. EGNOS, European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service, serves to sharpen the accuracy of GPS signals across Europe and informing users about the current reliability level of the system. BREAKING NEWS!!! 🛰️ Tomorrow Dec.17th ESA is launching #Cheops 📺Watch live via ESA Web TV 09:30 – 15:00 https://lnkd.in/diiCb-X Visit ESA's website http://www.esa.int/ #smartcities
