It is an outrage to discriminate against anyone because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. We should fight to keep the American Dream alive and well. ‪However, we absolutely cannot allow illegal immigrants to continue to flood into the United States, undetected and undocumented. We must agree on expeditious and logical solutions to border control. Every American citizen knows how to secure their personal home and property, and it is reasonable to believe that these same and simplistic solutions can secure the boundaries of our country. Yes, we need a wall. Once we have a comprehensive and effective system of border control, processes can be refined and streamlined to promote a more efficient and effective path to legal citizenship, where migrants can enter legally and be welcomed and appreciated for their contributions to our society. #BoatmanForCongress2020 BoatmanForCongress.net

It is important to note that what makes an undocumented person illegal is that they committed a crime by illegally entering our nation, they broke in.  I know and work with many foreign born citizens who came here legally and navigated the process to become a citizen.  There may be inefficiencies in that system, and we should endeavor to make the process more efficient, but we must stop illegal entry.   With respect to those seeking asylum, I'm both compassionate and willing to help.  This is not an immigration issue, it is a humanitarian issue. We need legislation and policies that work to address the root causes, in some cases the answer will be legal entry and asylum in the USA.  If someone in my community was desperate and feared for their life then broke into my home for safety they would likely be attacked by my dogs, and potentially shot.  If, however, they knocked on the door and made their plea, I would either bring them in, or get them to safety.  Coming in illegally is never the right answer.
