To make the newly announced Cilium CCA certification easier and cheaper to pass, we're introducing some new role-based Cilium discovery labs where you can learn, in 15 minutes, many of the Cilium features. For example, in the network engineer discovery lab, you get to learn about Kubernetes networking and Cilium features such as BGP, IPv6/Dual Stack, network observability, egress gateway and load-balancing. Even better: If you pass one of the discovery labs, you get a 15% discount on the CCA. If you pass all three labs, you get a nice 40% discount on the CCA. Just announced: the first Cilium CNCF certification! 🎓 Liz Rice and I wrote a detailed blog post about this new entry-level certification. Read more below 👇🏾 It's announced today and we will be entering a beta soon before the exam before generally available early next year. It's been really interesting working on this project with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and expert SMEs from the likes of Conoa, Accenture, Datadog, solo.io, Microsoft and of course Isovalent. I remember studying for my Cisco CCNA back in 2005 and while some folks have doubts about the broader value of certifications, the CCNA (and CCNP and CCIE...) had a huge impact on my career. Somehow it feels fitting to now contribute to the exam for the next gold standard in networking. https://lnkd.in/dqCEMm-Y

In episode 38 of #Cilium weekly, I review a brand new feature: Cilium Multi-Network! Connecting a Pod to multiple networks by simply annotating the Pod with the networks you want it to join is pretty cool. It's fully compatible with network policies and with our observability tool Hubble. Feature is included in the recent enterprise edition of Cilium 1.14. 🐝 Go and try the lab, read the blog post and let me know what you think!

After Pac-Man, I am now playing Quake.... It's hosted in my colleague Maartje's home in Belgium. Quake's running on a Raspberry Pi-based Kubernetes cluster, which is, of course, running Cilium. 🐝 I am accessing the cluster via the Cilium Gateway API and badly losing. Currently playing Pac-Man on a Kubernetes cluster running in Dario Mader's home lab, near Bern in Switzerland. Dario's cluster is, of course, running Cilium and the Pac-Man app is a two-tier application secured with Cilium Layer 7 Network Policies and exposed to the Internet using Cilium Ingress. Discovered this week that the network simulation tool containerlab also includes a UI that lets you visualize the network topology deployed (which is nicer than having to look back at the YAML file). Nice work Roman Dodin & co ! We'll be adding this to our next Cilium networking lab!
