Future of Processes Podcast | CEO of Unifize

I just finished an interview with a 19 year old from Chennai who’d self-taught himself #React.js for the past three years. Brimming with enthusiasm, he told me about all the online courses he had taken. “Have you thought about going to university?” I asked, cautiously. “I did. I dropped out. What am I going to learn there? The university system is so bad in this country. They wanted me to memorise old code to pass their tests. It was a complete waste of time.” We interview thousands of candidates. This was the easiest recruitment decision of all. Are you a developer with a similar story? Are you able to think about your life from first principles? Do you value learning more than anything else? Please apply to Unifize by emailing a covering letter and resume to careers@unifize.com. Think hard about the covering letter: What do you want to achieve by working with us? Why will you be a good fit for us? www.unifize.com

We need people like you in India. Most of the employer look for the degree. They should be focusing more on skills not the degree. I know a lot of people who taught themselves how to code in colleges. After all you matters, your skills matters not the degree. Thank you for being you.

People like you are trialblazers who will challenge and transform the status quo a bit by bit. We need to value skills over degrees. A lot of employers and recruiters reject candidates outright, even for interviews, by looking at the nature of degree and name of the college attended by students. Thanks for giving an opportunity and believing in that young man.
