Girma has been a mentor to me since event inception and so many others in the industry. He was unable to join us in person last minute- duty called, and he answered, but we played a surprise message for Joao and I stepped in alongside our 2023 award recipient Rodger Foster, CEO/MD at Airlink to quiz Joao and hear his amazing anecdotes. The full session will be available soon, but to summarise Rodger identified Joao Pó Jorge’s major trait as being humility and I couldn’t agree more. Joao said he didn’t have an open door policy as a leader, but an open heart policy ❤️ During his tenure, he prioritised supporting healthcare and childcare for his employees and practised a meritocratic approach, which led to more female managers. Joao was joined in Windhoek by his beautiful family who clearly adore him. Joao your service to the industry is beyond words and we know you are not done yet.
