The signatories stand together in refusing to accept a trade policy that has a massive negative social and environmental impact, both in and outside of Europe, and that disproportionately affects small producers from partner and third countries. The #EU cannot continue to: ๐นpromote trade conditions that reinforce unsustainable practices and destroy our common goods, ๐นpressure small producers to endlessly reduce their production costs, ๐นimpose unconcerted EU priorities in a one-way relationship that fosters frustration and EU distrust at our partnersโ level. Instead, trade has to be equally beneficial to all, especially the small producers, which can be achieved by promoting #FairTrade practices and Fair Trade enterprises. The signatories welcome the idea of expanding the #EuropeanGreenDeal into a #GlobalGreenDeal as it highlights Europe's obligation to mitigate the effects its policies impose on third and partner countries and seeks to terminate exploitative relationships with the Global South ๐ We're thanking Bernd Lange, Margarida Marques,ย Inmaculada Rodrรญguez-Piรฑero, Helmut Scholz, Udo Bullmann, Sirpa Pietikรคinen, Samira Rafaela, Anna Cavazzini and Saskia Bricmont for their support and looking forward to working together in the next legislature. Read the full statement here: https://lnkd.in/dS37sfRz Fairtrade International SOLIDAR & SOLIDAR Foundation World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) - Europe #GGD
