Founder and CEO, Growclass 🌱

I refused to do a thing for a long time because it gave me the ick. When I was building Growclass I never wanted to talk about money. Too many coaches were out there yelling that if you take their class you'll make money. Let me be very clear: no one can promise you that. And if they do, please, back away slowly into the night. But then we started to get these DMs from former students about their raises, promotions and new jobs. Many of them hadn't built the confidence to ask for more, and being surrounded by a community of folks learning and growing gave them the nudge they needed to make it happen. Let me be clear, they did that good shit for themselves. We just acted as a place to build confidence, hard skills, and a network. So we got curious and put out a survey— hey, out of curiosity, are you making more money after taking Growclass? Yes. On average $26,700. That's not a little bit of money, that's "I can breathe easier in a shitty economy" money. But we still stayed quiet about it, for fear of becoming the sleazy-chest-beating-brotato promising you the moon. And as time passed, the stories kept coming. With receipts, we got a bit bolder. We could prove that Growclass helps with this hard exciting thing, so it felt less weird to talk about. And if our goal is to help women and underrepresented folks make more money, we should be upfront that it's something we care about The most recent story is Rachel's— a brilliant Growclass grad who pivoted her career from non-profit to corporate, adding 50% to her salary without compromising her values. She's really fucking cool. I'll add her story in the comments. So I guess the moral of this story is, don't let the fear of being a bad marketer stop you from being a good one. If you have real evidence you can help your customer do something important, tell people.
