I just gave my first TEDx talk...and completely botched it 🤦♂️
I practiced the talk over 100 times, and had the entire thing memorized.
Then I got on stage. Got halfway through the talk. Missed a line...and it completely threw me off.
I completely spaced.
It was the exact thing I feared the most...and it happened.
More embarrassed than I’ve been in my entire life, I pulled out my phone and pulled up my notes.
I got my bearings and finished the talk without any more hiccups.
The media team for the event will fix my flub in post-production — so anyone that sees the video on the TED website will have no idea that I screwed up...unless they’ve seen this post. ;)
My worst fear leading up to this talk actually happened. And I’m still alive.
Here’s to kicking fear in the mouth and doing things that scare us anyway.
