Ibrahim, a father of nine, has turned dry land into a thriving farm thanks to support from the #WorldVision Somali Nexus Accelerator Fund. With drought-resistant seeds, solar-powered irrigation and training, Ibrahim now supports his family by feeding them and selling surplus produce to fund his children’s #education. This is more than farming. It’s resilience, dignity and hope. This is made possible by our generous donors and World Vision Support Offices. In Lughaya, one of the most drought-stricken and remote areas in Somaliland, families have lost everything. With no access to #health services, World Vision Somali, with support from the World Food Programme Somalia, is the only organisation on the ground, delivering lifesaving #nutrition and care to #children, pregnant and lactating #women through mobile health teams. But the needs are growing fast, and funding is running low. This partnership is making a real impact, but more support is urgently needed to reach those on the margins and ensure no one is left behind.

Today, on World Literacy Day, we’re celebrating the power of storytelling! Our Programmes Manager, Esperanza Escorza Lalinde, is on the ground in Somalia, observing a powerful creative writing workshop with community volunteers and teachers, as part of the Irish Aid funded EMPOWER Programme, in partnership with Fighting Words. This initiative is more than storytelling. It’s about: - Amplifying youth voices ensuring that young people feel that what they say matters - Building confidence through creativity - Equipping educators with tools to inspire imagination in their communities. From group and individual story writing to drama improvisation, the workshop is designed to spark joy, connection, and self-expression, especially for young girls and women. We’re proud to collaborate with Fighting Words to bring this creative model to life in Somalia, South Sudan, and the DRC. #WorldLiteracyDay #EMPOWERProgramme #FightingWords #WorldVision #YouthVoices #CreativeEducation #Somalia

We were honored to host colleagues from World Vision Somali Japan , and the Response Innovation Lab at our Hargeisa office this week. Our discussions focused on strengthening Somaliland’s productive sector, with a special emphasis on the fisheries value chain. We shared our experience in the sector and presented ongoing innovations such as the Cooperative Management System (CMS) — designed to empower cooperatives through stronger data systems, governance, access to finance, and market linkages. We explored practical ways to align these tools with existing programmes, ensuring that fishery cooperatives and their members can benefit directly. #KCG #DevelopmentInnovation #Somaliland #Fisheries #Cooperatives #PartnershipsForImpact

Somali Children on the Frontline of Climate Change Early next week, as African countries gather in Addis Ababa for the Africa Climate Summit 2025, we carry with us the voices of Somali children. At Somalia’s first National Children’s Climate Dialogue organized by the Joining Forces Alliance members in the country, I spoke with Ruweydo, a brave young girl who spoke truth to power: 💬 “We did not cause climate change, but we are the ones suffering the most.” 💬 “Don’t leave children behind in the fight against climate change.” Her words are not just testimony — they are a mandate. Somali children like Ruweydo and Iqra are demanding action: safe schools, clean water, resilient communities, and a future where children are not sacrificed to a crisis they did not create. Children are not passive victims of the climate emergency. They are leaders, visionaries, and problem-solvers — and they must be recognized as such. At World Vision Somalia, together with the Joining Forces Alliance, we are committed to making sure children’s voices shape climate solutions — in Somalia, across Africa, and globally. Because climate justice without children is no justice at all. #ChildrenClimateAction #ClimateJustice #AfricaClimateSummit2025 #Somalia #ChildRights #JoiningForces #WorldVision World Vision World Vision Somali

In Wadajir MCH, Baidoa, World Vision Somali is implementing a life-saving #nutrition program supported by the World Food Programme and the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO). Since May 2025, over 800 children and 50 mothers with moderate acute malnutrition have been admitted, alongside 437 children with severe cases. The process is thorough, including manual screening, digital registration via RTI and SCOPE—ensuring transparency and integration with relief efforts. Baidoa is home to one of Somalia’s largest IDP populations. This distribution point is making a powerful impact. Thank you, World Food Programme Somalia and Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany, for helping us reach those who need it most. #NutritionMatters #HumanitarianImpact #WorldVision #Somalia #Baidoa #foodsecurity World Vision Germany

Humanitarian crises are becoming increasingly complex, and there is a need for collaboration among donors, local communities and academia to work together to design solutions that protect aid workers, empower communities, and drive lasting change. We caught up with Suganya Kimbrough, Chief of Party – EMERGE, World Vision Somali, who shares why the humanitarian system must shift from donor-driven agendas to locally led, collaborative solutions that truly prioritise the most vulnerable. This isn’t just a conversation; it’s a call to action. Your presence and voice matter. Join the conversation at the ongoing symposium in partnership with Strathmore University & International Rescue Committee as we unpack the challenges that humanitarians continue to face under the theme #ActForHumanity. As we count down to #WorldHumanitarianDay, we are shining a spotlight on frontline health workers like Mohamud, who are tirelessly working to ensure children in Somalia receive the healthcare they desperately need. With over 1 million children facing acute malnutrition, their work is more crucial than ever. Despite dwindling funding, these humanitarians continue to save lives on the ground. Let's salute their dedication and recognize the importance of supporting their efforts.
