WisconsinEye Public Affairs Network is set to stop event coverage due to lack of funding in just a few short weeks. As a journalist in northern Wisconsin, I'm trying not to panic. There's no way I'm going to be able to offer timely coverage of government proceedings, news conferences and other events without WisconsinEye's services. While discussions that impact Wisconsin's northern constituents happen every day in the Capitol, most of us can't swing a nine-hour round-way trip to report the news back to Sawyer County. WisconsinEye has served a critical role in transparency for communities all over the state. I encourage those who value that role to join me in making a donation, if you are able: https://wiseye.org/donate

Appearing at a WisPolitics of State Affairs luncheon, Wisconsin Supreme Court Chief Justice Jill Karofsky talked about bolstering security for the courts statewide. The court is currently assigned 1.6 full-time equivalent positions for a civilian marshal and a deputy marshal covered by state money. The state is also using federal COVID-19 funds to provide an additional four positions, though that funding will run out Aug. 31, 2026. -Watch full program: https://lnkd.in/gBEtuemE -Subscribe: https://lnkd.in/gKCgeKbR -Support: https://wiseye.org/donate -Visit: https://lnkd.in/ggGwimD8 #WisconsinEye #Wisconsin #Politics #WisconsinSupremeCourt #Judges #Judiciary #WisconsinStateGovernment

On this episode of Rewind: Your Week in Review, Wisconsin Public Radio Anya van Wagtendonk and WisPolitics of State Affairs JR Ross discuss hemp products being banned in the recently passed federal government funding bill. Previously, the 2018 Farm Bill had a loophole which removed hemp from the list of controlled substances and created a legal gray area that allowed the spread of hemp-derived THC products. -Watch full program: https://lnkd.in/gPH7K_Sf -Subscribe: https://lnkd.in/gKCgeKbR -Support: https://wiseye.org/donate -Visit: https://lnkd.in/gXuBHvVt #WisconsinEye #Wisconsin #Hemp #HempIndustry #FederalGovernment #WisconsinStateGovernment #Politics
