  • When you’re walking in your local park, you might not know that state investments lie in the infrastructure beneath your sneakers. That’s the case at the Park at Bothell Landing, a city park in Bothell, near the King-Snohomish county line. Years ago, Commerce invested $150,350 in a new pedestrian bridge, a project that leveraged local, state, and federal dollars. The accessible bridge, which opened in 2021, spans the Sammamish River, connecting downtown Bothell with the waterfront and walking trails. Go on, take a stroll!

  • Welcome to AJ’s Place. Located in Spokane’s Emerson-Garfield neighborhood, the property offers something powerful: a fresh start. Revive Center for Returning Citizens recently opened AJ’s Place, one of three newly acquired and rehabilitated properties funded by a $4 million Rapid Capital investment from the state Housing Trust Fund. Together with Amarah’s Lofts and Shemuel’s Space, these homes will provide 22 units of permanent supportive housing for people rebuilding their lives. With 24/7 support and trauma-informed care, Revive isn’t just creating housing, they’re creating healing, stability, and belonging.

  • Washington state needs a lot more clean energy, and we need it now! Electrification is driving up demand, and with our climate goals on the line, we’re not building fast enough to keep up. To meet our decarbonization targets, we’ll need to double or even triple our clean energy capacity over the next two decades. That means more transmission, more generation, and fewer bottlenecks. The good news? We’re not waiting on Washington, D.C. Under Governor Bob Ferguson’s leadership, we’re fortunate to have a team committed to accelerating this work. Leaders like Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission Chair Brian Rybarik, Washington State Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) Chair Kurt Beckett, Washington State Department of Ecology Director Casey Sixkiller, and our team at the Department of Commerce are all aligned on the same mission: build faster, smarter, and more equitably. This is what progress looks like—collaboration, urgency, and a shared vision for a clean energy future in Washington state. Let’s keep building. #CleanEnergy #WAenergy #ClimateLeadership #PublicService #EnergyInfrastructure #FutureForward #TeamWA
