Students took a giant leap into space education when the European Space Agency - ESA tasked them with a very important mission: how to send a message from Earth to the far side of the Moon, with a special visit from astronaut Dr Meganne Christian FRAeS. 🌗 🛰️ 👩🚀 Over 200 students aged 9-11 from Furze Platt Junior School and St Piran's School in Maidenhead, UK, came together to work on the project – which is the real-life plan for ESA’s Moonlight, with program leads Viasat and Telespazio UK aiming to develop a data highway on and around the Moon. The STEM day forms part of ESA’s 50th anniversary celebrations showcasing its achievements and future ambitions, the importance of space efforts in Europe, and to inspire the next generations. We were delighted to take part in today’s event, alongside the UK Space Agency, and industry experts Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL), MDA Space, PA Consulting, CGI, and Astroscale.
