We’re partnering with Viam to deliver next-generation automation for marine manufacturing. By combining UR Series robots with Viam’s AI-powered software platform, we’re introducing highly flexible surface-finishing solutions that deliver efficiency and precision while reducing delays and addressing labor shortages. A robotic block sanding system is at the heart of our collaboration, designed to streamline fiberglass sanding for yacht builders: a task traditionally known for being labor-intensive and physically demanding. And it doesn’t stop at marine applications: ✅ Gelcoat and paint application ✅ Wood sanding and polishing ✅ Solutions for furniture, construction, and industrial manufacturing “Viam’s AI-powered software opens new applications for our collaborative robots and sets the stage for rapid innovation across industries," said President of Teradyne Robotics Group Jean-Pierre Hathout. 🔗 Learn more https://lnkd.in/e5KXvMTN

"The more you build, the faster you'll learn. You'll also discover what you find hard and what you find exciting. There's really no substitute for that." — Simone Kalmakis, VP Engineering at Viam That was one of many insights shared at our Women + TGX in Robotics NYC career panel last week at the Viam HQ when we brought together Simone, Jasmine Lawrence Campbell, Rosalind Shinkle, and Samarpita C. for an evening exploring career paths in robotics. From discussing debugging as a superpower to the importance of user experience in robotics products, the conversation reinforced that there's no single path into this field, just curiosity, drive, and a willingness to keep building. Thank you to Women + TGX in Robotics NYC for partnering with us and to everyone who joined. Building an inclusive robotics community starts with events like these. Your competitors may try to copy your hardware. They may even reverse-engineer your algorithms. But they can't replicate the operational intelligence you've collected from your robots learning in real-world conditions. Because Tennibot uses Viam, they can automatically collect sensor data, performance metrics, and operational logs from the thousands of robots they manage. This means faster development cycles and more innovation. Learn the 5 infrastructure requirements for operational intelligence: https://lnkd.in/eVX5hyyg.

This week we are announcing a new collaboration between Universal Robots and Viam—pairing UR cobots with an AI-powered software layer.  It’s time to rethink what automation can do. Together with Viam, we’re tackling demanding surface finishing workflows in marine manufacturing - for example fiberglass sanding - and extending those gains across broader manufacturing use cases. The focus is consistent outcomes, faster ramp up, and better ergonomics, with systems that evolve as the work changes. You can read more here: https://lnkd.in/e6nQeNGT

Across industries, we see the same trend: teams solving physical-world problems faster because Viam enables them to approach automation and robotics like modern software development—with modular components, advanced APIs, integrated AI tools, and more. On The Spoon podcast, Viam Founder and CEO Eliot Horowitz joins Michael Wolf to explain why the kitchen is such a promising test ground for robotics development. It’s a challenging, unpredictable environment that once would have required years of custom engineering, and startups like Gambit Robotics, Inc. can now build on Viam in a fraction of that time. “If you're a smart engineer who can code, you don't need a robotics PhD to build robots anymore.” — Tennibot CEO Haitham Eletrabi Tennibot is a robotics and AI company that manages thousands of robotic ball machines and ball collectors for tennis, padel, and pickleball with a team of just 10 people. This isn't luck—it's strategic architecture. By choosing platform infrastructure over custom-built systems, Tennibot's engineering team focuses entirely on product innovation. Tennibot's approach demonstrates a fundamental shift in how robotics companies can scale: small teams with the right infrastructure can move faster than large teams with the wrong tools. The same approach can accelerate your robotics development. Read our full interview with Haitham Eletrabi: https://lnkd.in/etkMJmc4. And try the platform today (for free) at the link in comments.
