Innovation can come from anywhere. The inspiration for our lead asset, OLC, came from a car battery manufacturer. The company was exploring using lanthanum carbonate to make car batteries smaller, a technology that we found could be used in a similar way to reduce pill size. That was our aha moment and start of the journey for reducing the pill burden for patients on dialysis.
