Building gender-inclusive immunization 💉 Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health, and with support from GAVI, the vaccine alliance, #UNICEF trained 47 health professionals from #Aleppo and #Idleb through two intensive Training of Trainers sessions, equipping them to make immunization programmes more gender-responsive and inclusive for every child. Participants gained the skills to identify and address gender barriers, integrate gender into immunization planning, and train others in their communities and across #Syria to promote equitable access to vaccines #ForEveryChild. Amid 14 years of conflict, non-formal education has been a lifeline for children in Syria. Since 2020, support from GPE, UNICEFinSyria, Save the Children International, and other partners has enabled thousands of students to restart their education in safe learning environments. For children like Hayat, enrolling in a non-formal education center was a game changer. There, she received emotional support and caught up on lost learning. This year, she is proud to start grade 9 in a formal school—one step closer to her dream of becoming a pediatrician. 👏 ✨ Education multiplies possibilities for children in Syria: it equips them not only with literacy and numeracy skills, but also with resilience and hope. #FundEducation #MultiplyPossibility

“I dream that when my daughter Raja’a grows up, she’ll join UNICEF to help rebuild Syria,” Noura says, when me met her in Al Yamama clinic that is supported by UNICEF. Noura, 27, brought her daughter Raja’a for health and nutrition screening after her older child recovered from malnutrition at the same clinic. “I wanted to be sure she’s healthy,” Noura says. With funding from the Government of U.S and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, UNICEF and UNFPA are supporting mothers and children to access essential health and nutrition care and treatment. Every mother’s hope is every child’s right to grow, to thrive, and to dream. Meritxell Relaño Arana UN in Syria Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health, and in cooperation with UNICEF and WHO, and with funding from The Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, a nationwide campaign is underway from 12-23 October 2025 to protect every child under 5 from vaccine preventable disease. 🎯 The campaign aims to reach 3.2 million children under the age of 5 years through: - Catch up on zero-dose and defaulter #children. - Protect against measles through vaccination. The European Union (ECHO) is contributing EUR 14.5 million to UNICEF’s multi-sector response – bringing critical support in #education, #nutrition, #protection, and #clean_water to some of the country’s most vulnerable children. This funding means more safe learning spaces, vital #health_care, clean water, and protection for children who have endured far too much. 📣 Read how this partnership is making a real difference on the ground: 👇 https://shorturl.at/7gyWX #EUCivilProtection #ForEveryChild Meritxell Relaño Arana UNICEF Middle East and North Africa

“Now we have clean water, and we drink from it,” says Mariam, 11, in Al-Shmetiya in Deir-ez-Zor. For more than a decade, families here lived without reliable access to safe drinking water, putting children at risk of waterborne disease. With support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through the KfW Development Bank, UNICEF installed solar-powered systems at the local water treatment plant, ensuring reliable access to clean water. #ForEveryChild #clean_water KfW Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) UN in Syria

🚨 #Children and families are returning home — to destroyed schools, unsafe streets, and little support. Since December 2024, nearly 1.86 million displaced people and 1 million refugees have returned to their areas of origin — many to destroyed homes, limited services, and ongoing insecurity. 🔺 Explosive ordnance incidents have killed or injured over 1,100 civilians so far this year — a third are children. 🔺 187,000 people displaced in As-Sweida in July alone. 🔺 In 2025, #UNICEF has reached 7.5 million people, yet our appeal is only 31% funded. #Children cannot wait. Years of conflict. The loss of a brother. An amputated arm. At just 16, Cidra from Syria has faced unimaginable hardship. Yet, she continues to speak up for the rights of children. In times of crisis, many girls miss school because of the risks of sexual violence, child marriage, or not having the menstrual health products they need. Despite all this, Cidra keeps going and encourages others to do the same: “Keep pushing forward with your studies, no matter the challenges or difficulties you face.” Education is every girl’s right and nothing should stand in her way. #GirlGoals

Step into Aya’s day. At 17, she has lived in the camp since 2019. She dreams of going home to Iraq, seeing her father again and continuing her education. With UNICEF and partners, Aya attends computer and social cohesion sessions that build skills, dignity and respect. She also has access to safe water and learning opportunities. Conditions in the camp remain difficult. Aya’s wish is simple: “to go home and live in peace.” #ForEveryChild, #peace Meritxell Relaño Arana UN in Syria

So viele verlorene Menschenleben, so viel Leid, so viele verschüttete Zukunftspläne. 🙏 Meritxell Relaño Arana Zeinab Adam Matteo Frontini Fleur Roussel-Ward Hasan Burhan Anja Čengić Aslanyan Narine Bassel Duksy Peter Power Joana Pérez Martorell Video: Ashawi/UNICEF
