To prevent waterborne diseases, #UNICEF prepositioned 2,9K WASH kits across the South, covering 14,5K people. 📦 Jérémie: 700  📦 Jacmel: 600  📦 Miragoâne: 400  📦 Léogâne: 400  📦 Les Cayes: 800 Clean water & hygiene are essential to protect children & families in emergencies. #StormMelissa #foreverychild 🩵

As Tropical Storm #Melissa continues to threaten southern Haiti, UNICEF is taking action to protect children’s health.    In coordination with Ministry of Public Health and Population #MSPP, 176 health facilities have been supplied with nutrition supplies, ensuring care for 4,175 children exposed to #Melissa impacts.  #foreverychild 🩵

To ensure continuity of care during & despite the storm #Melissa, UNICEF is deploying emergency health kits: 🩺 5 IEHK kits for essential health services 💧 4 AWD kits for acute diarrhea 🤰 5 midwifery kits for safe deliveries These supplies will reach 20,000 people, support 500 births, and enable the care of 400 diarrhea cases. #Foreverychild 🩵

The situation surrounding Storm #Melissa continues to evolve in the South and Grand'Anse departments. UNICEF is already mobilised on the ground to support communities and respond to the most urgent needs. In Haiti, the fight against polio continues despite numerous challenges.   In several regions of the country, health workers like Salomise Celestin brave difficult roads, insecurity and a lack of resources to reach every child.   In the first quarter of 2025 alone, more than 112,000 children have already received their polio vaccine thanks to the collaboration of the Ministry of Public Health and Population #MSPP and the support of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Development Canada and the Government of Japan. #ForEveryChild 🩵
