The first day of the high-level mission from United Nations Office for Children and Armed Conflict & UNICEF Haiti focused on advancing collective efforts to protect children affected by armed violence. 🇭🇹 Members of the Country Task Force on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMR), alongside the office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (OSRSG-CAAC), the UNICEF Haiti Representative, the Resident Coordinator’s Office, #ONUHaiti, #BINUH and technical teams from UNICEF, came together for an in-depth workshop on how to protect children better from grave violations of their rights and respond to children affected by armed violence. Discussions covered the Children and Armed Conflict mandate, the Security Council framework, and the structure and role of the CTFMR. Participants also examined case studies and global good practices and explored political and protection strategies for UN engagement with armed groups in the Haitian context. The exchanges set the tone for a collaborative mission aimed at strengthening coordination, reinforcing national capacity, and ensuring the protection and rights of every child in Haiti. #foreverychild 🩵

Following of Tropical Storm #Melissa, the lack of sunlight disrupted the power supply to cold storage rooms for vaccines in the South-East, Nippes and Grand'Anse. Thanks to the support of UNICEF Haiti, three generators were installed in departmental supply centres and departmental hospitals to ensure that vaccines were kept between 2°C and 8°C and that vaccination activities could continue. #Foreverychild 🩵

#pourchaqueenfant 🩵

“I learn every day, I love school, and I want to become a doctor.” Raymond, 9 years old, 4th-grade student. In a context where access to education is challenged by insecurity, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and SIDA continue to support children like Raymond through the distribution of school kits. Thanks to this partnership with the MENFP, children can keep learning and dreaming despite the country’s challenges. #ForEveryChild 💙

In several communities in the far south and west, families have lost everything: Their homes, their possessions, their fields and their loved ones. During this difficult time, UNICEF remains by these families' side to provide them with the necessary support. CP: Patrice Noel #ForEveryChild 💙
