🎯 UNICEF Cameroon at the Port Authority of Douala Official : Behind the Scenes of Logistics That Matter 👂 “Did you know UNICEF and A.P. Moller - Maersk go way back?” While some see containers as just metal boxes, others know they carry hope — especially when children’s futures are at stake. To mark the 150th anniversary of the Port Authority of Douala, a team from UNICEF Cameroon’s Logistics Department made a strategic appearance at the official exhibition. The goal? Not just to be seen — but to understand how logistics players at the port operate, and how that impacts the delivery of essential supplies across the country. 🚢 First stop: MAERSK’s stand. Not by chance. This global shipping giant has been a trusted partner of UNICEF for years. Welcomed by Ms Irène Kamnang, Vendor Manager, the conversation was open and direct. 🧭 The team continued their tour, engaging with other logistics companies, uncovering stories, services, and innovations that shape the sector. 💬 But here’s the real takeaway: UNICEF isn’t just visiting. We’re listening, learning, and acting. Because when it comes to children’s lives, every link in the supply chain matters.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with UNICEF Representative Nadine Perrault and her colleague Anne Fouchard to discuss Canada’s ongoing collaboration with UNICEF Cameroon. At #UNGA80, Canada announced a contribution of CAD 2.5 million through the Child Nutrition Fund. This support will help fight acute malnutrition, improve child nutrition and well-being, and strengthen access to essential services such as health, education, and protection. The needs of children and families in Cameroon continue to grow, particularly in fragile contexts. This makes it more urgent for governments, development partners, and communities to work together and step up our efforts to ensure no child is left behind.

🧃 It may look like a simple sachet, but inside lies a powerful solution: Plumpy’Nut – a ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) designed to treat severe acute malnutrition in children. But what makes it so effective? ✅ It’s packed with essential nutrients: proteins, vitamins, and minerals. ✅ It doesn’t require cooking or refrigeration. ✅ It can be administered at home by caregivers, even in remote areas. ✅ It helps children recover quickly and safely. 🎯 Thanks to the financial support of the Gouvernement du Canada Affaires mondiales Canada | Global Affairs Canada, European Union, European Commission, KfW, and Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), UNICEF Cameroon can deliver thousands of these sachets to children in need across the country. Their partnership is helping us reach the most vulnerable, restore health, and give children a chance to thrive. #UNICEFCameroon #ChildNutrition #CuriosityForChange #CanadaForEveryChild #KfWForLife #PlumpyNutPower

🎉 #AUDecadeOfEducation has finally been launched - let's get to work! 🎉 During #PACTED2025 yesterday, African Union has launched the Decade of Accelerated Action for the Transformation of Education and Skills Development in Africa 2025-2034. At the same time, the 2nd Continental #SDG4 Report by UNESCO, UNICEF and AU has also been launched, which include promising solutions for achieving Continental Education Strategy 2026-2035 (#CESA) - a landmark day!! Then this morning, I had the pleasure to present on #CommunityEngagement for Teacher Development and Accountability, prepared in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Education Cannot Wait (ECW), highlighting the importance of community participation and engagement for teachers to thrive and children to learn. We also led the session today on #DigitalLearning for teacher development, with inspiring ideas and experiences shared across government, private sector and international organizations across the continent, namely by Pia Rebello Britto, Ahmad Jawad Asghar, Joshua Valeta, Zainab Suleiman Abubakar, Jean-françois Lessiabigui and Kiko Muuo under an excellent moderation of Annina Rintakumpu. The session concluded with the call for actionable and user-friendly EdTech with teachers and more investment for African teachers to be able to make good use of this tool. These are just a part of many thought-provoking sessions that are taking place in #PACTED2025 this week in Addis Ababa - stay tuned for exciting times ahead in #AfricaEducation!! ⚠️ Could your child be exposed to a silent poison at home? On October 2, 2026, at the Djeuga Palace in Yaoundé, UNICEF Cameroon and its partners convened a capacity-building session with climate-environmental civil society organisations (CSOs) and young leaders to raise awareness about the dangers of lead poisoning and its link to climate action. Lead exposure is a hidden threat. It can be found in everyday items—paint, batteries, toys, cookware—and its impact on children is devastating: learning difficulties, behavioural disorders, and long-term health issues. This initiative aims to: ✅ Generate evidence and data on lead exposure in children ✅ Conduct a Child Environmental Health (CEH) assessment ✅ Support national ownership and advocacy for stronger protection policies 👨👩👧👦 Parents, your awareness can save lives. 👉 Check the materials your children use daily. 👉 Learn about common sources of lead in your home and community. 👉 Join the movement for a safe and healthy environment for every child. 📣 Let’s act now to protect their future. #ChildHealth #StopLeadPoisoning #UNICEFCameroon #ClimateAction #SafeEnvironment

What happens when youth take the lead on #climate, #peace, and #education? From planting 70 trees in #Mokolo 🌳 to building safe paths to school in #Maroua 🛤️, and shaping climate policy at LCOY #Cameroon 2025, young U-Reporters are proving that action starts with them. This month’s UNICEF Cameroon Spotlight is a tribute to their courage, creativity, and commitment. It’s a celebration of youth transforming their communities—one tree, one classroom, one voice at a time. This is not just a newsletter. It’s a movement. Whether it’s a 13-year-old girl leading environmental advocacy in Abong-Mbang or youth engaging diplomats in Maroua, the message is clear: Africa’s climate future is being shaped by its youth. 📣 To our partners: Let’s amplify these voices. 🌍 To young activists: Your leadership is the change we need. #UReportCameroon #ClimateAction #YouthVoices #UNICEFCameroon #LCOY2025 #ForEveryChild
