  • Join us in celebrating Chelsea Reidy, a 2025 Taoseña Award Honoree! Chelsea Reidy, Executive Director of Taos Center for the Arts, is originally from Guam. She studied at the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated from the University of Guam in 2009 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies in Arts and Sciences, focusing on science, technology, and the environment. From 2009 to 2012, she taught English in Ehime Prefecture, Japan, as part of the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. In 2016, she moved to Taos, where she became a projectionist and theater technician at Taos Center for the Arts. She was TCA’s interim theater manager (2018-2019) and then filled that position (2019-2020). In 2020, her role was expanded to theater and programs manager. Reidy is actively engaged in the community as a collaborator, and her work philosophy is focused on community partnerships. She has worked with The Paseo Project’s Festival production team and produced and directed theater in Taos. A teacher at Taos Day School, June 9, 1996 to present, Claireen Espinoza has a Master of Science (M.S.) focused in Elementary Education and Teaching from Lesley University. Bettina Sandoval noted that this dedicated teacher helped students survive and thrive during the COVID pandemic, including “getting internet access for the day school kids” and “doing everything possible to get them access to different things.… She's always looking for resources and extra things for the students, and he takes on projects that are helpful for the school, not only for her classroom.” Help us celebrate the incredible women of Taos at our annual Taoseña awards event on Wednesday, March 5, at 6:00 pm. She co-created a peer-led recovery workforce program that empowers Taos Pueblo Community Members to reclaim their lives and livelihoods from addiction. She is always thinking of creative and impactful ways to help her community and pushes the boundaries to ensure they are meeting the community's needs.
