Imagine tracking a ship that suddenly goes dark in the middle of the ocean. Within hours, multi-sensor data from SAR, EO, RF, and AIS reveal its true location and activity. That is the future of maritime domain awareness. In his latest blog, Dr. Kumar Navulur, CEO of Synspective USA, shares how intelligent sensor fusion and low-latency satellite tasking are transforming how we detect and respond to illicit maritime activity, from IUU fishing to human trafficking. At Synspective, we are building the capabilities for real-time, actionable maritime intelligence that turns data into decisions. In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, which brought intense rainfall and strong winds to Jamaica and parts of Cuba, Synspective’s StriX SAR satellite captured imagery to assess the impact of flooding across affected regions. At the request of Jamaica Flying Labs, Synspective conducted a Flood Damage Assessment. The assessment revealed widespread flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and near the shoreline, as well as large-scale inundation in Kingston's city center. This assessment demonstrates the value of SAR satellite data in providing timely, objective insights for disaster response, especially in regions where weather conditions or accessibility hinder traditional observation methods. #SAR #strix #Satellite #HurricaneMelissa #DisasterResponse #FloodDamageAssessment #Resilience #RemoteSensing
