Last week we hosted a ribbon cutting celebration at Westinghouse Crossing in Georgetown, Texas. The event not only commemorated the business community's first building, but also our first building in the state of Texas. St. John Properties was joined by development partners, brokers and community leaders including Georgetown Mayor Joshua Schroeder, and Director of Economic Development for the City of Georgetown Cameron Goodman, CEcD, who shared remarks. The newsletter highlights our recent expansion into the Eastern Shore, and our first first development in Salisbury, Westwood Commerce Park. The award honors a University of Maryland alumnus/a who has demonstrated outstanding service to the university, gifting their time and/or talents. Sharon is a graduate of The Phillip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park, and serves as both the Executive Director of Special Projects at St. John Properties, and as President of the Edward St. John Foundation. The Edward St. John Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of St. John Properties, and under Sharon's leadership, has benefitted more than 750 groups, and gifted more than $65 million since its inception. At the award reception held at the University of Maryland, College Park, Alumni Association Senior Executive Director Jessica Roberts explained that Sharon has been deeply involved with her alma mater since joining the University of Maryland College Park Foundation Board of Trustees in 2012, and was elected to serve as chair of the stewardship and governance committees in 2017.
