I am still processing the incredible last week in #Vienna for the #OpenSourceSummitEurope and Linux Foundation Europe member summit, where we, as SparkFabrik, are proud members. Being part of the Linux Foundation Europe advisory board (LFEAB) is an incredible honor. It's fantastic to be part of such an incredible team of professionals: https://lnkd.in/d__CggfC and have the chance to shape the future of #opensource in #Europe, now as never; the role of open source foundations and communities is crucial to keep up with the current and following policies that are shaping the market, such as the #CRA and #AI act. Another important thing happened: I was granted by OpenSSF with the #GoldenEgg award for my contributions and involvement with the community; it was such an incredible honor. (A dedicated post on this is coming in the next few days.) If you are involved in some ways in #OpenSource and you want to have the chance to collaborate, be involved, stay informed, and extend your network, consider joining the foundation: https://lnkd.in/d_eX6-Qj I cannot tag anyone I've met here, but it was great to have a chat with you, thanks for your time, and I hope to see you again soon 🔜

Day two of #DrupalConBarcelona was filled with inspiring moments and standout sessions that truly left an impression! 🌟 Mónica Rikić Fusté took us on a fascinating journey into the world of assistive robotics, where she shared how her artistic replica of an industrial robot shows that creativity and tech innovation can go hand in hand. Her work highlighted how artistic research can fuel real, transformative technological breakthroughs. 🌟 Theodor Ragnar Gislason also captivated the audience with his mission to democratize cybersecurity. His initiative aims to make threat detection and responsible disclosure accessible to all, while his admiration for the longevity of the Drupal community and its commitment to best practices was palpable. But Theodor and his team didn’t just talk the talk—they took action! They scanned all the contributed modules in Drupal's GitLab repo (about 38K modules and 500GB of data!) to hunt for vulnerabilities. The results? Over 80% of modules were secure—a huge win for Drupal’s Security Team! And fun fact: when they ran a similar test on WordPress plugins... let’s just say the results didn’t quite compare! 😉 Another session that sparked curiosity was Tassos Koutlas Koutlas’ "Let’s Burst Our Bubble: Projects, Products, Estimates, and Forecasts." This session offered refreshing insights on organizational and communication challenges developers face, and how to tackle them head-on, especially when dealing with client contracts. In the morning, Gábor Hojtsy and Tim Plunkett gave us an exciting deep dive into the present and future of Drupal core and Starshot, providing valuable insights on where Drupal is headed. And of course, a special mention to our very own Luca Lusso whose session "Leveraging the Command Pattern: Enhancing Drupal with Symfony Messenger" piqued the interest of many. Luca showcased how the Symfony Messenger can take things further than the current Drupal Queue API—exciting stuff for all the developers in the room! Here’s a quick list (in random order) of the day’s most interesting sessions: - Fast Tracks to Compensation: Revolutionising Rail Claims with Drupal and AI - A Case Study - Let’s Burst Our Bubble: Projects, Products, Estimates, and Forecasts - Building the Future of Drupal: 11, 12, and Starshot - Coding Beyond Functionality: Altering Technologies Through Artistic Research - Drupal AI: Leading the Web's New Golden Era - The AI Module and Starshot - Software Supply Chain Security Deep Dive - Leveraging the Command Pattern: Enhancing Drupal with Symfony Messenger

The first day of DrupalCon Europe Barcelona 2024 has started with the fortieth iteration of one of the most awaited events on the schedule: the DriesNote. The main topic was, of course, Starshot, or as we'll call it from now on, Drupal CMS. It's been a few years since a DriesNote was so exciting to follow. Dries showed us all the amazing work that has been accomplished in just four months (the Starshot project was launched at DrupalCon Portland in May 2024). The new version of Drupal will be accessible to non-coder users and have AI baked in. Using a chat, we can now interact with a growing set of agents capable of performing tasks for us, interacting with the Drupal Core APIs. It's impressive. One crucial point presented by Dries is that humans will always be kept in the loop. All the new stuff presented by Dries is already available to use; it is just not production-ready yet. The community has another four months to sharpen and complete the first version of Drupal CMS, which will be released on January 15. DriesNote is available on YouTube here: https://lnkd.in/dBRYAfV7. During the rest of the day, the SparkFabrik team followed some sessions on different topics: - Gander in practice: start monitoring your site's performance today - Working together: DDEV on Gitpod and GitHub Codespaces - Experience Builder Initiative - Let's try to understand Typed Data, finally... - Migrations at scale: Migrating sites with millions of objects - AI with Drupal - Using LLM technology is easy, but how do you actually build useful applications? - Innovation in action: Building a flexible and scalable Drupal platform for managing 60+ sites on Google Kubernetes Engine - Drupal's Bundle Classes to Better Code Ultimately, it was a very good first day; we learned some new things and talked with other developers about interesting topics. We ended the day in front of a delicious paella to get ready for day 2. #DrupalCon2024

#CloudNative #Serverless #Microservices #CloudTransformation
