About us

SpaceIL is working to promote science and education. It was established in 2011 aiming to land the first Israeli spacecraft on the Moon. The organization was founded by three young engineers: Yariv Bash, Kfir Damari and Yonatan Winetraub who answered the international challenge presented by Google Lunar XPRIZE: to build, launch and land an unmanned spacecraft on the Moon. On April 2019 SpaceIL became the first private organization to ever reach the moon and made Israel the 7th country in the world to succeed in this achievement. SpaceIL’s Beresheet-1 spacecraft inspired millions around the globe and sparked a new generation of explorers, engineers, scientists and entrepreneurs. Today team SpaceIL is working on it’s  next space mission in parallel to continue building and promoting educational activities in Israel and around the world.

  • Yesterday, the WiSpace community gathered at Earth & Beyond Ventures' offices for an event hosted by its partner, Doron Landau. Led by Maya Glickman-Pariente and Michal Ziso, the event brought together inspiring women from across the Israeli space ecosystem to discuss the future of gender representation in the industry. A central part of the conversation was Inbal Orpaz's presentation of the gender research led by her and Avi Blasberger, initiated by us and The Parasol Foundation Trust. The research sheds light on the current state of gender diversity in the Israeli space ecosystem and the challenges that still lie ahead. The event also featured discussions and an inspiring pitch of Naama Nicotra, founder of NakedPak, about her journey and her creative solution for sustainable food packaging. At #SpaceIL, we are proud to be part of the effort to shape a more diverse and inclusive Israeli space ecosystem and we believe that this research is just the first step in sparking awareness and promoting change across the space sector. #WomenInSpace #SpaceIndustry #Diversity #Innovation #Leadership #STEM #Sustainability #SpaceIL #ParasolFoundation #WiSpace

IAI - Israel Aerospace Industries Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel Shir Oz Sahar Rubin Peretz Daniela Geron Rebecca Yoffe Itamar Guez Keren Brand JJ Schwartz Orly Shachar

Last Thursday was a truly meaningful moment for me. Together with my partners at Moon2Mars Ventures, Earth & Beyond Ventures, and CREATION-SPACE, we had the honor of being hosted by Israel's President, Isaac (Bougie) Herzog, at the President's residence. I had the opportunity to help arrange the meeting in honor of Steve Braverman and David Braverman who give so much to Israel. Through JNF USA and their deep commitment to innovation, the Braverman family supports countless Israeli space and deep tech startups. Their contributions go far beyond financial, they believe in the vision of Israel as a global leader in technology and progress. Seeing President Herzog welcome them and acknowledge their impact was moving and well-deserved. Our mission is rooted in Zionism and in strengthening Israel’s image as the startup nation. Moments like this remind me why we do what we do. In the picture with me, from right: David Braverman, Steve Braverman, President Herzog, Oren Hefetz, and Israel Biran.

  • The gender research conducted by the Parasol Foundation and SpaceIL on the status of women in the space sector highlights the challenges they face and emphasizes the need for leading women in the field and ensure women have equal opportunities to excel in space exploration. In response to this research, Shirit Schwarz, Astrorad PM at StemRad said "Equal opportunities start with a diverse team and extend to tailoring product solutions for everyone! At StemRad, a diverse team of women and men – scientists, engineers, designers, and textile experts – developed groundbreaking radiation protection solutions designed for both women and men.  The challenge was clear: women required more complex solutions to achieve the same level of protection as men. That’s where we started. Today, Zohar, equipped with the AstroRad vest, alongside Helga and Captain Campus, is the "astronaut" who has traveled the farthest from Earth. The AstroRad vest, with its advanced radiation protection, enables true equality of opportunity in space exploration – for both women and men. Don’t give up on a sector just because it requires adaptations. Don’t compromise – enable" Parasol Foundation Trust Read the full gender research here : https://bit.ly/4hkpMKV #space #womenempowerment #spaceexploration #womeninspace

A recent gender research by SpaceIL and The Parasol Foundation reveals the significant underrepresentation of women in space field and provide some recommendations for improving gender representation.  In response to this research, Professor Daniella E. Raveh , Dean of the Aerospace Faculty at the Technion said “We are proud to champion the importance of inclusivity and diversity in our field. The challenges of space exploration require innovative thinking from individuals of all backgrounds. Introducing more female engineers to space-related disciplines is not just a matter of equity—it is critical to the success of such an ambitious field. Historically, women have been underrepresented in aerospace engineering, but in the past years the trend is changing and now, approximately 30% of our undergraduate students are female.  Space exploration represents humanity’s collective future. To inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers, we must ensure that young women see themselves represented in the work we do and the dreams we achieve. Our role as educators is to build an environment where talent, not stereotypes, determines opportunity.” See the full report here: https://bit.ly/4hkpMKV Parasol Foundation Trust Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Technion #womenempowerment #genderesearch #Space

A Truly Special Day at the International Space Conference! 💫 This week we participated in the International Space Conference in memory of Ilan Ramon, and it was a fantastic opportunity for us to present the Beresheet2 mission to representatives from space agencies around the world and to a professional audience from the field. Throughout the conference, held by the Israel Space Agency at the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Government of Israel we were thrilled to see the great interest in our mission – both in the engineering plan and in the educational program, #SpaceUP, which connects young generations to the worlds of science and space. At our booth in the exhibition hall, we displayed a full-size model of the Beresheet 2 lander, which captured the attention of the attendees. Many visitors stopped by, asked questions, and the model became a popular corner at the conference. The Exciting Moment of the Conference : A unique Israel-Italy Collaboration to Advance the Beresheet2 Moon Mission. Brigadier General Uri Oron, head of the Israel Space Agency, and Professor Teodoro Valente, head of the Italian Space Agency, recently signed a letter of intent for cooperation on the #Beresheet2 mission, developed by SpaceIL. This collaboration between Israel and Italy is set to significantly advance lunar research and boost both countries’ positioning in the global space ecosystem. This agreement marks a major step forward in international space cooperation and paves the way for significant advancements in lunar research. We are proud to collaborate with more countries on our important journey to the Moon. Shimon Sarid | Shaked M. Ben Shoushan | Moshe Medina #space #Beresheet #collaboration #spaceexploration
