As one of the world’s leading food companies, we're committed to addressing hunger and food insecurity, ensuring that nutritious meals reach our neighbors who need them most. That is why, nine of our incredible team members recently rolled up their sleeves at the Portsmouth Sportsplex Mobile Pantry event, helping distribute food to approximately 200 households. At Smithfield, we’re proud to support our neighbors and grateful for the opportunity to make a difference one box at a time.

Smithfield proudly sponsored Hunger Relief Day at the North Carolina State Fair, one of the state’s largest single-day food drives, in partnership with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Fairgoers donated canned goods for free admission, joining us in the fight against hunger. During a special presentation, leaders from Smithfield, the NC Department of Agriculture and the Food Bank emphasized the power of community collaboration. At our activation space, visitors sampled our new Smithfield x Mike’s Hot Honey Bacon, a bold addition to our We Speak Pork campaign that’s already making waves nationwide.

Today, we honor Rick Rieck, a forklift operator at our Sioux Falls, SD facility, for an extraordinary 45 years of service. Reflecting on his journey, Rick shared, “I’ve worked in several jobs over the years...At the end of the day, it’s always the people who make your workdays better.”
