It's a great day to celebrate SNA's 2025 National Manager of the Year Award Winner, Debbie Lehne!🎉 Debbie Lehne is the Cafeteria Manager in Meriden, Connecticut, where she’s spent more than 14 years bringing warmth and compassion the lunchroom. After a 25-year career in management, she found a new calling in school nutrition—and hasn’t looked back. Known for her close connection with students, Lehne goes above and beyond to meet individual needs, support her team and engage with the community. Whether she’s delivering meals, planning vegetarian options or handing out cinnamon buns at a local parade, Lehne’s goal is simple: to leave a lasting, positive impression. 🚨 Congress has passed a budget reconciliation bill that will reduce school meal access for students nationwide. The bill’s significant cuts to SNAP and Medicaid will cause hundreds of thousands of children to lose automatic eligibility for free meals. This will lead to fewer schools enrolled in CEP and even more students falling through the cracks. States struggling to cover new SNAP cost-sharing requirements may be forced to reduce benefits—or cut school meal funding directly. SNA stands with you. We’re committed to advocating for school nutrition programs and the students you serve. We will continue to fight for policies that protect access to healthy school meals and keep you informed as this legislation takes effect.
