🐦 Happy National Bird Day! 🌊 Since the completion of the Mission Reach Ecosystem Restoration Project just over 10 years ago, 222 unique bird species have been recorded utilizing the restored habitat! In December, 2 new species were added to this growing list! 1. Limpkin (Aramus guarauna) - a rare visitor to our area with a unique beak that helps them prey on Apple Snails! 2. Black-throated Gray Warbler (Setophaga nigrescens) - an uncommon species for our area that typically migrates through west Texas in the spring and fall. 💪 These incredible milestones highlight the dedication of River Authority staff and partners to creating Safe, Clean, and Enjoyable Creeks and Rivers. 🌳 Have you ever spotted a cool bird along the Mission Reach? Share your sightings! #SanAntonioRiver #SanAntonioRiverAuthority #SafeCleanEnjoyable #OurRiverWay #KnowYourRiversReach #DontLetLitterTrashYourRiver
