  • In a new article, Saildrone and the University of South Florida College of Marine Science partnered to improve the accuracy of seafloor mapping by comparing sound-speed data collected from Voyager USVs and gliders. The collaboration aims to refine models, reduce survey costs, and strengthen coastal resilience. “The more defined our underwater maps can get, the more we can understand and model the impacts of hurricanes, rising sea level, and other events on the coastline and habitats of Florida,” said Brian Connon, Saildrone VP Ocean Mapping. • Saildrone is excited to welcome Halley (Crast) Beecroft as VP People! Halley brings to Saildrone a strong operational background and a thoughtful, people-centered approach to leadership. A chemical engineer by trade, she has spent her career building structured, effective systems that enable teams to work safely, clearly, and collaboratively. Her transition into People leadership was driven by a belief that HR succeeds when it understands the business strategy and uses that insight to support teams and drive results. At Saildrone, Halley will oversee all aspects of our People function as the company continues to grow. She will focus on strengthening our recruiting and onboarding processes, supporting leadership development, and developing programs that contribute to a consistent and healthy employee experience. “I’m excited to join Saildrone at a moment of real momentum. The mission is meaningful, the work is technically challenging, and the people here care deeply about what they do. I look forward to helping build the structures and support systems that enable teams to do their best work, and I hope to make a meaningful impact on how we work, how we lead, and how we thrive together.” We’re thrilled to have Halley on board as we continue to scale our team and accelerate Saildrone’s next chapter. 🚀

  • Saildrone is proud to announce a strategic investment from Lockheed Martin, one of the world’s leading defense technology companies. Together, we are accelerating the development of next-generation unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) that deliver enhanced capability and kinetic effects, strengthening the US Navy’s vision for a distributed, resilient, and technology-enabled maritime force. This collaboration brings together Saildrone’s decade of operationally proven autonomy with Lockheed Martin’s trusted effectors and mission systems. The result: faster innovation, new capabilities in the hands of our warfighters, new industrial capacity, and new jobs created in American shipyards and across the maritime supply chain. Saildrone has always strived to make operations at sea safer, smarter, and more capable. This partnership represents the next step in that journey—marrying the best of commercial and defense innovation to deliver critical capabilities where and when they are needed most. • Drawing lines on a map isn’t enough to protect our oceans. Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) need strong, sustained monitoring—combining patrols, science, tech, and community partnerships to safeguard cultural sites and sustainable ocean use. Saildrione USVs are an integral part of this system of systems to deter intrusions while collecting vital oceanographic data to turn “paper parks” into thriving, living protections that fuel both conservation and the blue economy. We were honored to welcome VADM Jarosław Ziemiański, Inspector of the Polish Navy, to the Saildrone booth at BALTEXPO - International Maritime and Military Fair. Joining him in the conversation were Saildrone President John Mustin and Director, International Defence Matthew (Matt) Woody—a great moment to share our vision for the next generation of maritime security. Poland’s Baltic coastline plays a vital role in regional stability, and at Saildrone, we believe that persistent, autonomous systems are essential to closing gaps in maritime domain awareness—especially in contested and complex waters. We look forward to collaborating with NATO partners to bring Saildrone USVs into service, helping to safeguard maritime approaches, protect undersea infrastructure, and maintain an informed and resilient presence in the Baltic Sea. #Baltexpo
