Meet the latest #PACCARSpotlight employee, Tyler Sepe – Design Engineer at Peterbilt Motors Company for nearly two years. He contributed to the successful 2024 roll-out by addressing numerous engineering requests, revamped the Model 589 Stationary Application, and implemented pipe polishing reductions to save costs. Currently, he is responsible for the 567 Car Carrier front partial pipes, Transverse pipes, and MX-10 heavy-duty pipes. One of Tyler's favorite projects was reworking the Model 589 Stationary Application rear partial pipes. He and a junior engineer independently managed the entire design process and successfully implemented the changes. Tyler enjoyed getting to do a quick project with immediate results, allowing customers who had been unable to get the trucks they desired to now obtain them. Tyler was an Army paratrooper for eight years. He noted the challenge of moving from physically demanding, high-stress environments to a primarily indoor, computer-based role. When asked for advice on transitioning from military service to the civilian workforce, Tyler said, “The Army gave me the ability to work comfortably under stress, and I quickly realized it also gave me a slight need for that stress to perform my best. It can be difficult adjusting to a work environment where no one yells, and there’s no true life-or-death emergency in engineering design. I’ve had to relearn how to bring my best without external pressures and understand that I may just need to go outside and go for a run on the weekends; adapting isn’t always a fast process but a continuous effort.” PACCAR has supported Tyler’s career by providing comprehensive training in design and product development, more importantly, through relationships with experienced engineers. The department’s depth of knowledge comes from tenured and high-quality professionals. #WeArePACCAR
