Incarcerated individuals at London Correctional Institution have the unique opportunity to work at the dental lab. This lab produces full upper and lower acrylic dentures, partials, soft mouth guards and splints to name a few. Not only does OPI provide these products for ODRC, but also for Oklahoma Department of Corrections. Anyone who participates in this program has an opportunity to become a Certified Dental Technician (CDT). Out of the 104 CDTs in Ohio, 31 became certified during their incarceration- nearly 30%!

Last week OPI hosted state representative Jack Daniels and Mark Whitacre from Kandel Transportation Inc. to meet with OPI CDL participants and to tour London Correctional OPI shops. Not only is Kandel looking to hire those who have received their CDL during their incarceration, but they also provided guidance about expectations to have for the trucking industry upon release.
