About us
We are on a mission to ensure a strong, adaptable, and ready force supported through exceptional policy, programs, and services. Social media is an integral part of Department of War (DoW) operations. This site is designed to help the DoW community use social media and other Internet-based Capabilities (IbC) responsibly and effectively; both in official and unofficial (i.e., personal/private) capacities. It is essential for DoD employees to understand that many laws, and DoW policies and procedures apply to or include the use of IbC, even when such use is not specifically cited; for example, protection and control of classified and sensitive information is required when using IbC in both official and unofficial capacities. Rules and regulations about prohibited behavior, both on duty and off, apply when using IbC. Ethical behavior is required, both in official and unofficial use, and when using social media; for example, an employee may not post material to social media in either official or unofficial capacity that would constitute any kind of harassment (e.g., discriminatory or sexual), hate, bullying, hazing, retaliation or reprisal.

Really positive developments in our efforts to enhance food security for service-members and their families. This literally is a whole of government effort as demonstrated through the leadership of Lee Zeldin and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) who developed a food donation partnership program with local farms! Not only are we feeding troops but doing it with locally grown organic produce. It matters. https://lnkd.in/eX8NYCMa

Our Military OneSource team maintains a wealth of resources about benefits and programs available to Service members and their families. One of the many #MilLife guides they have prepared focuses on military pay. Below, they have compiled essential, curated information on the types of pay, opening a military-friendly bank account, TSP contributions, and more. https://lnkd.in/eSX-EhGP

Mr. Michael A. Cogar recently joined the P&R team as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Civilian Personnel Policy. Since arriving in May, he has gotten to work aligning the tools and policies of his office with the President's and Secretary's priorities for the Department. We recently sat down with him to learn more about his portfolio and the impact his team has.

It's always energizing to bring together the P&R team in person. Yesterday HON Anthony J. Tata, Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, hosted a town hall with in-person and virtual attendance from employees across our workforce. Mr. Tata shared his excitement about his new leadership role, congratulated staff on their efforts to advance the Department's agenda, and shared his vision for how he sees P&R contributing to the Secretary's key priorities of reviving the warrior ethos, rebuilding the military, and reestablishing deterrence. At the end, attendees had the opportunity to ask questions of Mr. Tata and P&R leadership.

HON Anthony J. Tata, Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, met with the team, and one of their companions, at the Defense Human Resources Activity (DHRA) recently. DHRA provides centralized and comprehensive personnel data management and analysis for the entire Department of Defense; manages DoD enterprise-wide mission programs ranging from travel management, language and culture, to civilian human resource advisory services; and ensures our Service members and their families receive the care and support they are entitled to through multiple and highly visible risk reduction and direct support programs.

Office of the Under Secretary of War for Personnel and Readiness reposted this
DOD since 1949. #OTD 76 years ago, the National Security Act was amended to establish the Department of Defense as we know it today. Since then, our men and women in uniform have been deterring conflict, defending freedom and protecting the security of our nation. To all of you who have the watch – thank you for your service. #PeaceThroughStrength

HON Tata and the P&R team were honored to join Secretary Hegseth for his visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center this week. Our wounded warriors deserve nothing but the best, and the talented caregivers at Walter Reed, and across the Military Health System, give it to them.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Anthony Tata visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to meet with wounded warriors, medical staff and caregivers who epitomize the resilience of our military community. Their visit reflects the DOD's commitment to the health and well-being of our service members and their families.
