2024 Marine Debris Campaign wrap-up! 💙🏴☠️ In 2024, our Marine Debris Campaign stemmed the tide of plastic pollution by removing over 42 tonnes of marine plastic from remote shores to bustling local beaches! 🤯 Marine Debris teams across Australia hosted 120 community clean-ups involving 2,214 local participants. Together, we prevented more than 230,000 pieces of trash from entering the ocean. 🙌 Our Remote Clean-up crews tackled the hidden plastic crisis head-on, removing an incredible 37 tonnes of marine plastic from some of the most remote and impacted shorelines in the country.  These achievements wouldn’t have been possible without YOU, our dedicated volunteers, supporters, partners and community members who rolled up their sleeves to clean up local habitats and keep marine life safe! Over 10,000 Cigarette Butts and 250kg of trash Removed to Protect Our Ocean!   In the past two weeks, Marine Debris Teams and @NoMoreButts hosted nine Great Butt Hunt events and clean-ups across five different states. Sea Shepherd crews and community members tackled cigarette butt pollution and successfully removed (10,525 butts) ! The data collected during this initiative will support advocacy for a strong #PlasticsTreaty and measures to eliminate plastic filters from production.   Additionally, teams have prevented over 7,900 pieces of trash from entering the ocean!
