Saturday morning, twenty of us were running in a pack during our CrossFit WOD. If you know CrossFit, you know running isn't exactly a CrossFitter's favorite. We were all suffering together when a group of cyclists rode past. Out of nowhere, someone lets out a "whoop whoop!" Suddenly, both groups are cheering each other on. Our feet got lighter. Our pace quickened. Energy rippled through the pack. And it hit me: Why is this so rare in everyday life? At work? In leadership? It takes almost nothing to lift someone up. It can be a cheer, a word, or a nod of encouragement. Yet it can change everything. Mike Abrashoff and I see this constantly. Organizations with half the resources outperform giants. Why? Their leaders understand that encouragement isn't soft, it's strategic. It's not about fixing people. It's about helping them be even better. Sometimes that starts with a simple "I see you. Keep going." Find someone pushing through their own tough lap. Give them a "whoop whoop." Watch what happens. What would happen if we made this kind of encouragement our default? #Leadership #TeamBuilding #Encouragement #CrossFit #Culture
