It’s time for Mylab Crew’s after work activities (part two) 🎉 We enjoy working together, but a great balance comes from also gathering together after office hours! Do you recognise this guy? That’s right – it’s our CEO, Samuli Niiranen! While many of you probably know the name and the face, we thought it’d be fun to give you a closer look at who Samuli really is, his thoughts on leadership, Mylab’s vision for the future, and some key advice along the way. But let’s kick it off with an introduction post! Would you like to tell us a little more about yourself, Samuli? 💬 “Originally, I’m a graduate engineer from Turku”, he begins. Before joining Mylab 14 years ago, Samuli was on an academic path in both Finland and the United States. 💬 “I never meant to do anything related to healthcare or information technology – even though there are many doctors in our family. But here I am!” 💬 “Although, I feel that my academic background has given me a broad perspective on healthcare IT, also through applied research.” Fast forward to today, what motivates you as a CEO of Mylab? 💬 “In a way, the fact that we are a company bigger than our size. I feel that in my position, I’m able to positively influence where healthcare IT and diagnostic IT will go in the future.” 💬 “I also really enjoy that my role is not just about working with the big picture, but also getting involved in very practical tasks.” Thank you for sharing, Samuli! Say hello to Jaana: our Recruitment Business Partner and driving force behind Mylab’s employer branding! ⚡ One of her main tasks during 2024 has been developing Mylab’s employer brand and now she’s here to give you a glimpse into her top takeaways and observations from the year. So, where did this journey begin? 💬 “We kicked things off by setting clear goals and creating a communications plan to support our desired employer brand perceptions. We also refreshed our career pages with input from many of our employees.” 🌟 Over the past year, we have consistently shared employer branding content, crafted in collaboration with the Employer Branding Agency Emine Oy, showcasing our people and work on social media and our website. What’s been your main observations during the first year? 💪 First, systematic employer branding communication has had real effects. ”Candidates in recruitment processes have been looking into our content and we’ve received positive feedback outside of Mylab that it’s nice to see sneak peaks from our people and daily work.” 💪 The second observation is about what happened internally. ”I think that our people are more interested to participate, share ideas and support the work, now that they have seen some of the results.” Employer branding is a long-term journey, but are there any exciting milestones to share? ”Yes, there are!” 🙌 ”Our presence in e.g. social media is significantly higher than before and the analytics show our contents are engaging. 🙌 Internally, the awareness of employer branding related matters has raised and I have been happy to be consulted to many development projects from this perspective! Say hello to Kotlin and Spring Boot! 👋🏾 After working with React and Ruby on Rails in full-stack development, Nahidul later shifted his focus more deeply into frontend work. Now, as a Software Specialist at Mylab, he’s expanding his skills back into full-stack development with a focus on backend technologies. 😊 In his role on the genetics project, Nahidul is diving into the exciting world of trending technologies—especially Kotlin and Spring Boot. Here’s what he thinks: 💬 On Kotlin: "It's a breath of fresh air! It’s concise and integrates well with many modern programming features." 💬 On Spring Boot: "It’s been around for a while and makes backend service development a fun challenge!"
