The future of investing doesn’t fit neatly into public or private markets—it lives at the intersection of both. Last month Morningstar launched the Modern Market 100 Index, the first benchmark to track both public leaders and late-stage, venture-backed innovators like SpaceX and OpenAI. Join CEO Kunal Kapoor and other Morningstar experts for an Investors First webinar on how this index helps investors invest with a benchmark built for today’s markets. https://lnkd.in/gf2ryqBK

Thoughts today on the latest Trump-Xi tiff. We think entry into some China stocks may be attractive today: Despite the possibility of a replay on how the markets reacted back in April, we believe the looming threat may be short lived – and think that investors could use this opportunity to enter into China stocks at a more attractive price given that the Hang Seng Index is down 2% in early trading on Monday. There are a few reasons why we believe the threat may be short-lived this time: 1. Both sides appeared to be posturing ahead of their November 1 meeting when the tariff truce is set to expire. China has now softened its tone, clarifying that the export control does not mean a ban but rather requiring further permission in a news conference on Sunday.   2. Trump walked back on his threat by posting on social media later that the US wants to cooperate with China rather than hurting it, while JD Vance had a reconciliatory tone over the weekend, indicating that the two sides are still negotiating.   3. Risk-on assets such as bitcoin and Nasdaq futures are up 4% and 2% since the US market close on Friday, while S&P futures are up 1.3% as of 10 am HKT, suggesting that investor sentiment remains positive.    4. While the shutdown has not impacted global markets greatly, we believe that it is increasingly dampening consumer sentiment in the US, and we do not believe Trump wants to re-escalate foreign policy issues without solving the domestic shutdown first.

PitchBook has spent nearly two decades setting the standard for private market intelligence, helping investors act with greater clarity and confidence.   Great to see their story highlighted and proud to have them as part of the Morningstar family.

Private capital has become a $15.5 trillion global ecosystem, touching everything from pension funds and retirement portfolios to more accessibility for everyday investors. With that growth comes an urgent need for clarity, data, and trust. That’s exactly where PitchBook comes in.   We started with the goal of solving real customer needs — and as those needs evolve, so do we. That commitment, paired with our culture, is what fuels our growth.   We got to share this story as part of the CBS News 50 American Leaders segment. Check it out.    https://lnkd.in/eYNDdKgE
