What began as a simple idea—turning a friend’s farm trails into a space for healing—has grown into a movement. Storm Sporting Events was founded by two passionate trail runners and parents who saw firsthand the challenges of navigating youth mental health care. Their mission was clear: build community, raise awareness and reinvest in the services that support the local youth.   “We didn’t just want to host races, we wanted to create a nonprofit that reinvests in youth mental health services. Our daughters’ experiences showed us how long and confusing the path to care can be. We wanted to help shorten that path.”   Today, Storm hosts five trail races, four triathlons, a film festival, and events like Storm the Day, which gets kids outside and learning life skills. Their impact extends beyond the finish line: funding scholarships, supporting local initiatives like the Prairie Island Adventure Club and creating safe, inclusive spaces for all runners.   “Our events aren’t just races, they’re platforms for change.”   At the heart of their growth is a trusted partnership with Merchants Bank.
