Last month, one of Limbitless’ research scholars and two of our Summer 2025 REU scholars attended the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) 2025 Annual Meeting! This was the very first time Limbitless attended this conference, and it was also the first time that our REU scholars got to represent Limbitless at an out-of-state conference. Stephania Castro and Kara Dell were both part of our inaugural REU program this past summer, and the BMES conference was a unique opportunity for them to present their research to biomedical engineering professionals from all across the country. Last month, Limbitless’ Research Scholar Maanya Pradeep attended the 2025 Northeast Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (NEALS) Conference, located at the Opal Sands hotel in Clearwater, Florida. The purpose of this conference was to expose healthcare professionals to new treatments for ALS, a degenerative disease that damages motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord and leads to the loss of muscle control. As a senior at University of Central Florida - College of Medicine majoring in Biomedical Sciences, this was a great opportunity for Pradeep to prepare for her future career as an MD by connecting with physicians, occupational therapists, and ALS patients from all around the country.
