I’m happy to share that I’ve joined Artefact as Lead Game Designer. Artefact is the flagship on-chain playable narrative IP from LAMINA1 Spaces set in a world shaped by Neal Stephenson, Rebecca Barkin and Wētā Workshop Ltd, and built with joseph lubin, Consensys, and Linea. For years, most on-chain projects optimized around speculation. Artefact is different: it treats the chain as infrastructure for story, for choices with consequences, shared canon, and co-created culture. The goal isn’t to mint hype; it’s to mint meaning. My role is to help align the fiction, the systems, and the rails: a world that stands up to scrutiny, mechanics that turn care, risk, and belonging into real decisions, and an open structure where creators can extend the IP without diluting it. Dear friends, I invite you to explore #ARTEFACT, a new original IP and web-based interactive universe imagined by LAMINA1 co-founder Neal Stephenson, the team at Wētā Workshop Ltd, and our very own in-house storytellers. Artefact contemplates the very timely question of how humans will organize and advocate for ourselves and the planet as #AI advances, augments, and consumes the world we knew. The experience transcends a single medium (book, game, film) to pull fans into the crafting of a vast post-Spike world. Stakes are high, and on 11.11, players find themselves caring for a rare Artefact that will place them in the center of an open-ended burgeoning rebellion against “The BIGS,” ignited by a mysterious rogue insider. Will you take action and find your tribe or will you take the buyout that promises a friction-free existence but threatens to entertain and feed you into idiocracy? Artefact unfolds within SPACES (beta), a new platform product release. It is designed to let creators and fans experiment, develop, converse, and expand IP together. Here, creators retain their IP ownership and their fans; they can monetize, and participate in the value of the platform. Eventually, with the help of a few friends in the ecosystem, we’ll offer a pathway to alternative funding of A+ creative projects. Permissioned #AI tooling will power collaborative world-building on Spaces, from custom #LLMs to #agents that guide or extend storyworlds. We’re experimenting with AI-driven lorekeepers that summarize storylines and generate quests based on community activity. And we’ve been so fortunate to have access to World Labs marble splats (beta) to support our pipeline, generating 3D scenes from 2D concepts.
