We’re excited to share that Populus is featured in Hospitality Design! Originally built in 1907, the Westland building has lived many lives, an industrial warehouse, office building, event space, and now a boutique hotel. It has been reimagined as Populus, with a design that celebrates its original structure while introducing fresh energy and modern amenities. Through thoughtful adaptive reuse, the original Douglas Fir timber beams that once supported the weight of commerce now frame inviting spaces, while expansive windows that have overlooked Seattle for over a century draw in natural light. Working alongside Urban Villages, The Miller Hull Partnership, LLP (architectural design), and Curioso (interior design), we’ve preserved the building’s historic character while incorporating contemporary elements to create a welcoming, memorable guest experience. JTM recently completed the Comprehensive Life Resources project designed by Ferguson Architecture. This project is a 10,000-square-foot tenant improvement created dedicated spaces to support behavioral health community services, including a range of client-focused support areas. The scope also included exterior window and façade replacements along the alley frontage, carefully designed to match the appearance of a previous phase for a seamless building aesthetic. Elevator modernization was completed to enhance accessibility and improve long-term reliability. All work was performed in an occupied environment, with behavioral health clients and staff working on the floor above and a parking garage directly below, requiring precise coordination, noise control, and safety measures to minimize disruption. #behavioralhealth #construction #seattle

Last week, our interns toured UMC's Fabrication Facility to gain a more advanced understanding of materials and systems used on projects. They also visited an active construction project in Seattle to see how components come together in the field. At JTM, we immerse our interns in hands-on experiences and real-world applications. Our internship program is designed to provide practical knowledge, professional development, and meaningful exposure to the construction process from start to finish. #oneJTM #JTM2025Interns
