New Artist Announcement: Sevinch Bazarova From the ancient city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Sevinch Bazarova brings centuries of textile tradition to IFAM 2025—preserving her family’s legacy of richly embroidered garments and bold, quilted silhouettes. Her work celebrates Central Asia’s Uzbek and Tajik heritage, once at risk of disappearing. Each piece begins with handwoven fabrics from the historic bazaars of Urgut and is brought to life with naqqosh pattern-making, kashida embroidery, and the skilled hands of nearly 20 artisans in her family’s workshop. We’re honored to welcome new IFAM artist, Darshan Tamang—a Buddhist monk and Thangka painter from northern Nepal, making his debut in Santa Fe this summer! Trained in the sacred art of Thangka painting since the age of seven, Darshan creates intricate works that serve not only as visual meditations but also as storytelling tools in the Buddhist tradition. His work is entirely hand-painted, using natural pigments and deep spiritual intention to depict the Buddha, deities, and teachings of dharma.
