In early October, the Defense Security Cooperation University’s Institute for Security Governance (ISG) partnered with the Escola Superior de Defesa (ESD) in Brasilia, Brazil to support the conduct of a defense management and planning course. This engagement marks another milestone in our shared mission of advancing sustainable capacity building. The ISG team’s visit focused on mentoring ESD faculty as they prepared to deliver the Course on Defense Management and Planning (CGPD) – a two-week program designed to build strategic planning expertise within the Brazilian armed forces. Together, ISG and ESD reached consensus on the course’s logic, structure, flow, and terminology, ensuring alignment with Brazilian defense practices. This partnership exemplifies the success of ISG's train-the-trainers approach, empowering local institutions to take full ownership. ISG Director Ian Wexler attended the course and noted, “As ESD prepares to independently deliver CGPD in 2025, we recognize and celebrate the tangible outcomes of collaboration, mutual trust, and our shared dedication to advancing defense education.” This engagement underscores the importance of knowledge-sharing and sustainable capacity-building in advancing security cooperation and strengthening defense education globally. #GlobalPartnerships #DefenseEducation #CapacityBuilding #ISG #ESD #SecurityCooperation
