"Strangulation is a serious form of violence, often used in domestic abuse to control, silence or terrify. When it's portrayed in pornography, particularly without context, it can send confusing and harmful messages to young people about what is normal or acceptable in intimate relationships. Our research shows there is no safe way to strangle." Great to see our CEO Bernie Ryan, OBE quoted in this piece. We are proud to have contributed to the understanding on this issue, but there is much work to be done to ensure this ban is effective. https://lnkd.in/eg8wa9XU

Listen to our podcast with Sex Education Forum ahead of their session at our conference Children and Young People: Could strangulation be ‘choking’ future generations? The discussion explores how we should be framing conversations about strangulation and sex with young people, what age it should be discussed, why this should not be a one off conversation and the role of parents and educators to get ahead of these discussions before young people are exposed to this in other ways. This is vital listening for anyone working with children and young people. https://lnkd.in/dwqcC_7V We can't wait to continue the conversations with Sex Education Forum at our conference.
